Run chkdsk first
Run System File Checker:
sfc /scannow
Check for issues:
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth
Check more thoroughly for issues:
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth
Repair Windows image:
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
If you are performing this recovery while not booted into the running Windows, use this syntax. This assumes C: is the Windows drive to be repaired, and E: is the Windows Install USB drive.
sfc /SCANNOW /OFFBOOTDIR=C:\ /OFFWINDIR=C:\windows
DISM /Image:C:\ /cleanup-image /CheckHealth /source:e:\sources\install.wim /scratchdir:c:\windows\temp
DISM /Image:C:\ /cleanup-image /ScanHealth /source:e:\sources\install.wim /scratchdir:c:\windows\temp
DISM /Image:C:\ /cleanup-image /RestoreHealth/source:e:\sources\install.wim /scratchdir:c:\windows\temp
dism /image:C:\ /cleanup-image /revertpendingactions
